The students are offered a curriculum that has the national standards and the IB programme integrated into one another. Both system requirements are met through the newly developed approach, which makes the programme more valuable. The MYP teaching is based on inquiry which helps students participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world. In MYP learning how to learn and how to evaluate information critically is as important as learning facts.
European Gymnasium offers two instruction language courses for the students of MYP programme: Russian and English.
The MYP curriculum framework comprises eight subject groups (see framework 1), providing a broad and balanced education for early adolescents. The MYP is inclusive by design; students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from their participation.
The teaching and learning process in MYP is based on the goal of having the students understand the Global contexts and develop their Approaches to Learning (ATL). The focus of the ATL in the MYP is on helping students to develop such skills and self-knowledge which can make them lifelong learners and empower them to succeed in their further education.
Two other core requirements for the MYP are the Service and Action and the Personal project components. European Gymnasium values service as it is tightly connected with sustained inquiry and critical reflection through which the students reach the attributes described by the Learner profile.
The assessment in MYP is based on the prescribed subject-group objectives and use the assessment criteria for each subject group in each year of the programme.
In European Gymnasium the number of the international projects, extracurricular activities, the additional support in learning, the differentiated approach to every student make this programme even more outstanding and ensure the bright future of the generation that we educate.
